Inclusive Playground Now Open

June 21, 2023

A new, inclusive playground at Woodlands Park is now open, two weeks ahead of schedule. This is the second inclusive park for the City of Perrysburg. The first one was installed at Rotary Community Park and opened in August of 2021.

This is the third new playground for the city this year. Playgrounds at Bicentennial and Municipal Parks were also replaced and opened earlier this month.

The playgrounds were replaced due to their age and the difficulty of finding replacement parts to keep them operating. Some of the playground equipment from Municipal and Woodlands Parks was donated to Missions International of America, a 501c3 charitable organization, for a school playground in Haiti.

The original bricks that were put in place when the playground first opened in 1997 were kept at the playground to continue to recognize the volunteers who helped bring Fort Imagination to Woodlands Park. Fort Imagination was community-built with funds raised by citizens.

Funding for the new playground equipment came from $1.3 million in ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds.
