The Law Director is head of the department and appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. Duties of the Law Director include: advising City Council, the Mayor, and City Department heads on legal matters; preparing ordinances; providing representation to the City on legal matters; preparing legal documentation; and attending City Council meetings.
The Law Director also oversees the City Prosecutor.
The City Prosecutor’s Office represents the City in all litigation and proceedings, including the prosecution of violations against city ordinance. The Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for preparing search warrants, participating in pre-trial conferences that involve criminal and traffic cases, prosecuting jury trials, and providing legal advice to agencies serving the Perrysburg Municipal Court.
