Pickleball Courts Now Open at Rotary Community Park

April 14, 2023

A new pickleball complex featuring eight courts at Perrysburg Rotary Community Park was dedicated on Friday, April 14. The courts are dedicated in honor of the Welch Family, owners of Welch Publishing, who have had generations of family members who served in the Perrysburg Rotary Club.

The pickleball courts were funded in part by the Perrysburg Rotary Club. The club has been fundraising to pay up to $300,000 of the $400,000 budgeted for the project. The city allocated $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for pickleball court amenities.

The Perrysburg Rotary Club has partnered with the City of Perrysburg for the past 15 years to develop Perrysburg Rotary Community Park. Club members have been intimately involved with the planning of the original site along with modifications to that plan over the years. The park now includes the pickleball complex, USTA tennis courts, an all-inclusive playground, soccer fields, a walking/jogging track, and a shelter pavilion with restrooms. To date, the Perrysburg Rotary Club and its Perrysburg Rotary Service Foundation have contributed more than $800,000 to the development of the park.
