Progress at Rotary Community Park

Here is a history of progress that has been made at Rotary Community Park:

Fall 2010, a rain garden was installed at the Fort Meigs Road entrance. Grant funding from Walmart was received for the construction of the rain garden. Additional trees were planted in the parking lot islands and street trees were planted along Fort Meigs Road.

Spring and Summer 2011, the permanent park sign was installed by the Penta County Trades class. The crushed stone 0.7 mile walking path was constructed along the perimeter of the park. The path may be accessed from the parking lot off Fort Meigs Road or adjacent to the Fort Meigs YMCA.

June 2012, 5 lighted USTA regulation tennis courts were installed. The open area was graded and grass was planted. Benches were installed at the tennis courts and along the walking path. 3 flagpoles and landscaping were installed at the main entrance boulevard. Sun shades were later installed over the benches and were purchased with grant funds from the Wood County Park District.

July 2021, inclusive playground opens. This was a partnership with Wood County Plays and features more than 13,000 square feet of play space. The playground exceeds ADA recommendations and creates a safe and fun environment for people of all abilities.

October 2022, the Perrysburg Rotary Club provided most of the funding for eight pickleball courts. The City of Perrysburg allocated $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for pickleball court amenities which include four sets of bleachers, four sunshades, and wind screens. The pickleball courts opened in April of 2023.
