Street Tree Trimming Policy
The city crews have a five year plan for maintenance on street trees.City crews trim year round when time and weather permits. Street trees located in the public right-of-way may be trimmed by city crews due to one or more of these reasons.
--low hanging branches
--maintenance pruning
--obstructed view of signs
--obstructed line of sight
--obstructed access to mailbox
--obstructed sidewalk access
Trees that overhang streets will be trimmed to15 feet for vehicular clearance.
Trees that overhang sidewalks will be trimmed to10 feet for pedestrian clearance.
Privately Owned Trees
Homeowners are responsible for maintaining their privately owned trees so their trees and/or bushes do not shade or obstruct street lights or street signs. Trees and bushes will not obstruct pedestrian and/or vehicular traffic on sidewalks or streets. If in doubt of the right-of-way, consut the Wood County Auditor page at www.auditor.co.wood.oh.us
When trimming trees and bushes, homeowners may take these triimings to the City Compost Site or utilize the curbside yard waste bag/tag program. Unlimitd curbside brush collection is offered once yearly in the spring. Consult Spring Brush Collection for details and dates. Brush will only be picked up curbside during the scheduled spring brush collection or by using the yard waste bag/tag program.
