Storm Damage

The City does not have the resources to take storm damage from residential property following every storm or wind event. The following procedures will be followed:

After a moderate storm
Street Trees--
City crews will pick up storm damage from city trees ONLY. City crews will canvas the city and remove damage from street trees following a moderate storm.
Residential Trees--
City residents may use the City Compost Site for disposal of debris from mild winds and storms. Residents may also use the City Yard Waste Bag and Tag program for curbside disposal.

After a severe storm or ice storm
If the city experiences a strong storm with high winds or heavy ice formation, the city crews will attempt to take storm damage from both street trees and trees located on residential property.
Information about collection of storm damage from residential trees will be available to residents via:
1- The City Hotline at 419-872-7879
2-The City web home page on the alert section.

Before you set brush to the curb... check the city web site alert section or the city hot line to determine if there is storm damage collection for trees from residential properties. Then and only then...residents should follow these procedures to expedite the collection.

1-Residents have two (2) days after the storm to have storm damage to the curb. It must be to the curb by 7:00 am of the third day after the storm.
2-City crews will make one (1) pass through the city. A supervisor will make note of streets as they are cleared. City crews will not return to areas that have been collected.
3-If a resident has brush after the collection, it is their responsibility to dispose of it properly by using the City Compost Site, the City Yard Waste Bag and Tag Program or by hiring a private contractor to dispose of the debris.

Storm Damage Collection is NOT the time to trim trees and bushes on your property. This is not a city wide brush collection. The only city wide brush collection is held in the spring.
