Rain Garden Workshop

First of all....

What is a rain garden?
A rain garden is a flower garden built in a natural or man-made depression that  is designed to temporarily fill with rain water from downspouts, driveways or streets, keeping this water on site and out of the storm sewer system. Rain gardens allow the water to soak back into the ground and filter pollutants.

Why rain gardens?
Rain gardens help keep water clean by filtering stormwater runoff before it enters the local waterways. They recharge the groundwater supply and provide valuable habitat for birds, butterflies and beneficial insects. Rain gardens provide beautiful landscapes for your yard.

A rain garden is a flower garden with a dual purpose.
