MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide the highest quality of service while facilitating the orderly development and strategic efficient use of land, assuring the integrity of code compliance and property maintenance and encouraging appreciation of historical heritage and cultural resources.
Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Division provides the lead role in planning and zoning activities within the City. The Division has the responsibility for providing the support for Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals, the Historic Landmarks Commission, and the Planning and Zoning Committee of Council. The Division has the responsibility for advising on platting issues, zoning changes, variances and special uses.
Responsible functions also include issuing a variety of permits, such as zoning, sidewalk, fence, sign, driveway, swimming pool, and occupancy permits. The staff is also responsible for the inspection and enforcement of all zoning laws including the Property Maintenance and Sign Ordinances and traffic counts. The staff also administers the annual sidewalk repair/replacement program.
The Division is also the point of contact for the U.S. Census data, land use data, flood plain data, and the "one-stop" for all construction plan review.
2012 Objectives
General:
1. Provide professional friendly and timely customer service with an emphasis on general public inquiries, responses and the issuance of permits.
2. Provide support to Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historic Landmarks Commission, City Council’s Planning and Zoning Committee, various Architectural Review Committees, CREADT, Downtown Perrysburg, Inc., Mayor’s Ad Hoc Water Committee and City Street Tree Commission.
3. Assure that memberships to all Boards, Commissions and Committees are current and complete.
4. Manage the 2012 Annual Sidewalk Repair/Replacement Program.
5. Update and distribute 2012 City Street Guide Map/Directory.
6. Coordination of U.S. Census Update Boundary and Annexation Survey.
7. Assist the Mayor and City Administrator, when requested, with economic development activities and projects/programs.
Planning and Zoning:
10. Administer a land use plan that encourages orderly development and the strategic and efficient use of land that maintains existing community character and promotes quality growth.
11. Administer the City’s Planning and Zoning Code and Property Maintenance for code compliance through the issuance of all permits, contractor licenses and certificate of occupancy permits.
12. Coordinate and manage the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Historic Landmarks Commission submission, application, review and recommendation and public hearing/meeting processes.
13. Consider and promote the strategic extension of utility infrastructure needs.
14. Continue to facilitate the City’s 5-year Annexation Policy and Program.
15. Represent Mayor and City on TMACOG’s Planning Subcommittee.
16. Complete the update of the Historic District Guidelines, Map and Inventory.
