Woodlands Park is the home to Fort Imagination. Fort Imagination is the playground that was community built in 1997 with funds raised by citizens. It has been a model for other community built playgrounds. In the summer, of 2008 a grant was received from Scots MIracle-Gro Company through Keep America Beautiful. These grant funds were used to revitalize the landscaping at Fort Imagination.

This open acreage is a welcome area to fly kites, walk the dog, and enjoy the several beautiful gardens located in this park. The long perennial flower garden located on State Route 795 was established in 2001 with help from an Eagle Scout project and donated perennials from citizens. The plantings at the west park entrance sign was a project of the 2011 Freshman Wood County Master Gardener Class.

In 2012, an eighteen hole disc golf course was installed with partial funding from Wood County Park District. A warmup exercise station was also installed with Wood County Park District funding.

Perrysburg Garden Club maintains a flower garden along the walking path. In the summer of 2009 in celebration of the club's 75th anniversary, the Perrysburg Garden Club planted the "Avenue of Trees" along the walking path. This is an ongoing project of their garden club. All Thumbs Garden Club maintains a Japanese style garden on the east side of the park. The Perrysburg Country Garden Club established the ornamental grass garden along the walking path on the east side of the park. The Johnny Appleseed tree grove was planted in 2000 as part of the City's Arbor Day celebration.

Woodlands Park is the site of the annual Kip Boulis 5K Run on Memorial Day weekend. This annual run benefits the police scholarship fund in memory of Officer Boulis.

The crushed stone walking path is one (1) mile for the complete curcuit.
