ICE SKATING POLICY
Ice-skating is permitted on the small pond at Three Meadows Park. City Parks Bureau personnel measure the thickness of the ice weekly during winter months. Warning signs are posted or removed based on an average ice thickness of 6" or more. If the small pond is safe for ice skating, it will be posted on the city web page alert section.City crews will clear any snow off the surface to improve the skating. The small pond is adjacent to the shelter house and has plenty of parking.
The large pond at Three Meadows Park has not been used for skating because there is a fountain running that keeps the surface open. This fountain is beneficial for the fish in the Pond. The City does not promote or recommend skating on the large pond; however we will check the ice thickness and post signs.
We welcome you to enjoy the City parks this winter but remind you that ice-skating or ice fishing on any pond or waterway requires common sense and caution. to check skaing conditions, call the City Hotline at 419-872-7879.
