CSX Railroad Crossing Supplemental Safety Measures

Pursuant to an agreement between CSX Railroad, the Ohio Rail Development Commission, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the City of Perrysburg, a project to install new warning gates and lights at the CSX crossing on Walnut, Locust and Elm Streets will be completed during the spring of 2010.  The CSX crossings at Pine, Cherry and Hickory Streets will be permanently closed within sixty (60) days of the installation of the new lights and gates at the other crossings.

 The Perrysburg Fire Division is a combination department that utilizes 24 full-time and 14 part-paid personnel to provide fire and EMS services to the citizens of Perrysburg. Personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

All full-time personnel are trained to the 240 hour advanced firefighters course, as well as paramedics.  Part-paid personnel are 36 hour basic firefighting trained with others at various levels above the state minimum.  Some of our volunteer personnel are also Emergency Medical Technicians.

To meet the needs of our community, many of our personnel are state certified fire safety inspectors, fire training instructors, EMT instructors and CPR instructors. The full-time ranks include the Chief, Deputy Chief, 3 Assistant Chiefs, 18 firefighter/paramedics and a Fire Safety Inspector.

All personnel, both full-time and volunteer, have Hazardous Material Awareness & Operations training and several of the personnel are PADI certified scuba divers and are members of the dive rescue team.
