John P. Alexander, City Administrator
John Alexander was born in Battle Creek, Michigan and grew up on a farm north of Marshall, Michigan. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in journalism. Mr. Alexander’s early public service career was spent with the Calhoun County (Michigan) Clerk of Courts and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department where he served as a Deputy Sheriff.
In the early 1970’s Mr. Alexander moved to Perrysburg Township with his wife, Christine, who is a Toledo native and co-founder of Bend of the River magazine. He attended Owens Community College and graduated with a degree in law enforcement.
He continued his public service career in Ohio holding positions with the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, the City of Toledo Police Division’s Regional Crime Laboratory, the Toledo Building Inspection Division, and the Toledo House of Correction. He served as Director of Public Safety for the City of Toledo before assuming the role of Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Toledo as well as the mayor’s Chief of Staff.
Following his tenure with the City of Toledo, Mr. Alexander was appointed to several positions with the Lucas County Board of Commissioners, last serving as County Administrator. He was appointed to his current position as Perrysburg City Administrator in January 2005.
Mr. Alexander is a graduate of the University of Toledo where he earned the Master of Public Administration and Juris Doctor degrees. He is an Attorney at Law, licensed in the state of Ohio.
